Battleworm is based on the old game LIGHT CYCLES, otherwise known as TRON. It was an addictive multiplayer game. Basically this is an improvement over the age old game with many more features. The graphics don't amount to much but the gameplay is good, especially with a load of friends round. It is easy to get into but it will take a lot of practise to master.
Installing the game
To floppy:
Duh..
P.u.t.. t.h.e..d.i.s.k..i.n..t.h.e..d.r.i.v.e. {What more do you want!!?)
To hard disk:
Copy the font from the fonts directory on the disk into your fonts directory on your hard drive.
Drag the directory "BW" from the disk to your games directory/partiton on your hard drive.
Now you're ready to play. Hippee..
If you look in the Misc directory you will find a program called Set_Table, all this does is reset the high score table. Simple?
Basic rules
Each of the four players (either controlled by person or computer) control a small worm like creature (bearing considerable resembelense to a straight line). The main objective is when everyone has died to have the highest score. Pretty simple huh! A life is lost when the head of the worm collides with another worm, a wall or a mine. All of the worms lives are lost when trying to escape the outside wall. The red counter in the top righthand corner of the screen, displays the number of worm second left. Seeing as worms are much smaller than us, time appears to go much quicker to them ?!? When this counter reaches zero a meteor storm occurs (use your imagination). The blue counter above the red counter, displays the time left before the next clear screen, when all walls and dead worms are cleared. The red bonus pill is the only object you can hit. When it is picked up, the player receives a bonus of 100 points, 200 worm seconds added to the counter and a random bonus event. These can be any of the following:
* Acceleration
* Deceleration
* Complete deceleration and acceleration for other players
* Time bonus of 1000 worm seconds
* Extra life
* Bonus score of 1000 points
* Worm walls become nearer
* Worm walls become further
* Worm walls turned off
* Invisibility
* Invenerability, your worm flashes.
* Reverse keys, your worm turns white.
* Meteor falls
* Mine
* Freeze
* Lengthen
* Lengthen x4
* Clear screen
* Relocate
Each time a clear screen occurs, naturally or through a bonus, the time is reset and increased from before.
One of main features about battle worm are the worm walls. These appear infront of you a set distance. Not only does this hinder by forcing you to turn but it also allows you to attack your oppontents by attempting to place you walls in front of them.
Hints and Tips
* Use your wall to block off opponents from reaching the bonus pill.
* Watch out for computer controlled players, they are psycho.
* Try and get into space when you have reverse keys or invisibility.
* If the pill is blocked off, your best chance is to wait for a clear screen.
* Keep an eye on the time, try to make sure that you have enough time to reach the next clear screen.
* The pill is moved when you get a clear screen or mine.
* If time runs out the pill might just be destroyed by a meteorite.
